Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has said he will ensure the city remains peaceful on Tuesday during the planned swearing-in of NASA leader Raila Odinga.

Sonko asked police to be vigilant and keep the city peaceful against destruction of property by 'politically funded goons'.

He was speaking together with other leaders including Samboja, MPs Kimani Ichung’wa (Kikuyu), Maina Kamanda(nominated), Charles Jaguar Kanyi (Starehe), Benjamin Mwangi ( Embakasi Central) Charles Gakuya (Embakasi North) and Simon Mbugua (EALA).

"The people of Nairobi are Peace loving. We know there are some leaders who want to export violence to the city to disturb our unity and destroy our business," he said.

Sonko insisted that the constitution was very clear on who is elected into office by Kenyans, asking the opposition to wait for the next general elections.
