Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has nominated Peter Kariuki to the position of county secretary.

Sonko settled on Kariuki yesterday (Tuesday) and immediately sent the name to City Hall for vetting by MCAs.

Should the house approve Kariuki, he will immediately take over from Leboo Ole Morintat who is holding the position in an interim capacity.

Kariuki is currently working at the project delivery unit, Office of the President.

Earlier in August, Leboo took over from Robert Ayisi who left over health problems.

Ayisi was the county's second secretary after Lilian Ndegwa who had been hounded out of office over corruption claims in 2015.

Ndegwa was charged with defrauding the county of Sh17 million or revenue.
