A clique of cartels from the Office of the President and unscrupulous lawyers are out to sabotage Governor Mike Sonko's service delivery, the Jubilee governor has said.
Over the weekend, an agitated Sonko openly bashed State House officials in President Uhuru Kenyatta's presence, following a protocol hitch that saw him almost left out of the itinerary.
"There are some people undermining me. The itinerary is very clear that I should speak after the Anthem," he protested in Uhuru's presence.
Ever since parting ways with his deputy Polycarp Igathe, Sonko has struggled to stamp his authority with reports indicating that State House is keen to take over.
And in an exclusive interview with Citizen TV on Sunday, Sonko accused Interior PS Karanja Kibicho of intimidating him.
"There is a clique of cartels who are out to sabotage me. Kibicho is leading the team and is being backed by a troop of reputable lawyers," he said.
While he did not, however, mention the lawyers, he has been at loggerheads with celebrated lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi and Borabu MP Ben Momanyi.
Within the OP, Kibicho is one of the right-hand men of President Uhuru and is said to be the Head of State's eye and ear.
