Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has pledged to prioritize infrastructure development throughout the 17 sub-counties in the next financial year. The capital city, Sonko said remains the financial, transport and cultural hub of East Africa.
“We will continue to promote innovation and entrepreneurship especially for the youth,” said Sonko.
He said with the digitisation of revenue streams at City Hall, his administration will next year prioritise infrastructure development and solid waste management.
The Sh1.3 billion data center dubbed Nairobi Regeneration Project and launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto on Monday is meant to enhance service delivery to city residents.
“The data center will centralize the operation of the county by providing a secure platform for county system application and data,” he added.
The top five revenue streams are rates, parking fees, single business permits, business permits and billboards and advertisement.
Speaking during the 54th Jamhuri Day celebrations at Moi International Centre, Kasarani, he said 150 CCTV surveillance and access control will be installed around City Hall and City Hall Annex and a modern website created.
He urged politicians to focus on development.
“Time for politics is over. It is now time to unite Kenyans, and restore the country on a path to economic growth and prosperity,” he said.
