Sonko said the aspirants for the party are well known and were Friday present at the launch of the JP smart card that will be used in the nominations.

According to the Star, the Senator said nobody will be pushed from outside the region to confuse the people in the race for the county top seat.

Those eyeing the governorship and present at the event included Nominated MP Johnson Sakaja, Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru and former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru.

The Senator warned leaders against using President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto names in their campaigns saying it will not augur well with the party.

He asked Uhuru and Ruto to emphasise that they do not have preferred candidates even as they ready for the nominations.

"Our common enemy is the opposition and we [should all work towards defeating them], whether one loses or wins the nomination. So I call on our leaders to ensure no one uses their names in campaigns," he said.
