Nairobi Deputy Governor Jonathan Mueke has once again lashed out Senator Mike Sonko's gubernatorial candidature, saying the lawmaker is unfit for governor.

In an interview with Kiss FM on Wednesday, Mueke cited Sonko's track record as senator, noting that he had performed dismally and could replicate the same should he get elected as governor.

"I am always left to wonder why the Senator is running around discrediting our government yet we are overstretching to run the essentials that we have prioritised with the limited resources we have," he said.

He further added that should Sonko have delivered on his mandate  as senator, the National government could not be owing City Hall more than Sh72 billion.

"The national government owes us Sh72 billion in land rates, parking and water. We sold them a piece of land which they put in army in Embakasi till now they haven't paid," he noted.

Sonko is seeking to unseat governor Evans Kidero of ODM Party on the Jubilee Party ticket.
