Former Nairobi mayor, Joe Aketch, on Thursday acknowledged the progress that has been made by Nairobi governor, Sonko Mbuvi, in the first 100 days of his term.
This is despite negative criticism that has been made in relation to the current dismal state of Nairobi city.
According the former Mayor, Sonko has done so much especially to clean Nairobi.
"I am very impressed with what governor Sonko has done in such a short time, given when he came in he found a lot of baggage from the previous administration," said Mr. Aketch.
Speaking during a KTN news program, Mr. Aketch said Sonko has proven that he can do well and if given support by Nairobi people he can do much better.
"Many people thought governor Sonko was not going to do well, but amazingly, he has proven that he can do well, as long as we the people can give him time," he added.
Abel Oyieyo, Sonko's political advisor, also said Sonko has been doing the great work in Nairobi.
"Nowadays we don't see hawkers moving into places like Moi Avenue," said Mr. Oyieyo.
However, many Nairobi dwellers have been left lamenting for a long time given the current situations of insecurity and health for instance. Nairobi residence have been claiming that Nairobi is worse than where the former governor left it.
According to them, Nairobi is dirty and filth is everywhere, insecurity is rampant, housing is still a problem and many more.
"Nairobi has not changed. In fact it is worse than how it used to be back then. Crime rate is high, dirt is everywhere and many more. We are still suffering," said Achieng'. a resident of Mathare area in Nairobi.
