President Uhuru Kenyatta led hundreds of mourners for a funeral service at Kagumo High School in Nyeri in paying tribute to the late area Governor Patrick Wahome Gakuru on Saturday. Accompanied by his Deputy William Ruto, Uhuru described Gakuru as a patriotic leader who was a true servant of the people.National politics took center stage with several Jubilee Party leaders attacking opposition leaders Raila Odinga following Friday's political events in Nairobi. On the said day, Odinga was returning from his 10-day US trip but police disrupted his welcoming ceremony causing chaos and death of five, injuring several others and destruction of property. However, the Jubilee leaders blamed it on Odinga saying he was the cause of the death and everything that happened.National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale asked Kenyatta to crack the whip on Odinga and other NASA leaders with intentions of destroying Kenyans once he is sworn in after his October 26 re-election."I want to request you, Mr. President, that once you take that Bible and you're sworn in, deal with people who want to destroy our country," said the Garissa Township MP.However, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko differed with him when he stood to address mourners."I want to differ with Aden Duale. He said that you should deal with people who want to destroy Kenya once you take that Bible during the swearing in. I say you should start now.""... you already took the oath of office to protect the people of Kenya. Please act on people who want to destroy Kenya right now and not after you're sworn in because you're still the president," said Sonko. He also warned that he would not allow the destruction of property in his county.
