SUNY Distinguished Professor Makau Mutua has defended embattled Nairobi governor Miko Sonko and asked Nairobians to give him a second chance to 'redeem' himself.
The professor through his weekly Standard column published May 26, said that the disgruntled governor needed second chances to solve the mess that is bedevilling the city.
"I believe in second chances. If Sonko is our baby, then let’s not throw him out with the bath water. Let’s give him a chance at redemption to earn back our trust," argued the professor.
The Governor has been grappling with intense pressure from different quarters who accused him of incompetence in running the capital city.
Huge accumulation of garbage, influx of hawkers in the CBD, constant traffic snarl-ups and poor roads are some of the reasons fronted by a section of what he termed the anti-governor as cartels.
The governor however vowed not to be intimidated by anyone and promised to deliver his campaign manifestos effectively and expeditiously.
