Nairobi Mike Sonko has refuted claims that he his planning to vie for the Machakos gubernatorial seat.
Sonko who was speaking on Wednesday said that he still plans to vie for the Nairobi seat and unseat the incumbent Evans Kidero.
Following his recent trips to Machakos, many political pundits stated that the move was a plot to gain popularity in the region ahead of the 2017 general election.
“I will be in the ballot for the Nairobi race.That I can assure you. I will fight for the growth of Machakos but on a political stand note I am in Nairobi to stay," said Sonko.
Before vying for the Nairobi seat, Sonko will have to battle it out with , Dagoretti North MP, Dennis Waweru, nominated MP, Johnstone Sakaja, former Starehe MP, Margaret Wanjiru for the Jubilee ticket.
Other leaders who have declared an interest in the Nairobi seat include Evans Kidero, Miguna Miguna and Esther Passaris.
