Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has won the hearts of many Kenyans who are tired of corruption after ensuring that his own cousin is not only suspended but also charged for being involved in the vice.

Addressing the press on Thursday, the flamboyant Senator said that he reported his own cousin Jimmy Kiamba who was later suspended and charged for stealing over Sh1.4 billion from City Hall.

The outspoken legislator, who is eyeing the Nairobi Governorship, has declared war again against corrupt leaders, adding that he will sanitize the county if elected into power in the forthcoming general polls.

“Nairobians asking me how I will deal with corruption as Governor. If I can send my own cousin to jail for stealing your money, who can't I?” Sonko asked, as quoted by Standard. It is alleged that the cousin had asked Sonko not to put him on the spotlight so that they can meet and discuss the matter but he declined to heed to his call.

Sonko said that he is not happy with his cousin after he colluded with other officials from the county to rob the common mwananchi adding that he will not tolerate such acts in his government.

“Anyone who is brave enough to loot money that I have allocated for youth will have a very long story to tell, won't allow it to happen,” added Sonko.
