"It is surprising that the Kenya Union of Journalists has today without verifying facts linked me to the violence that erupted during a political meeting convened by Dr. Evans Kidero in Dandora estate," he said.

The Senator said he condemned the acts of hooliganism that were in play at the meeting and wish the journalists who were attacked a quick recovery.

He also encouraged the scribes to be more thorough with their investigations before speaking openly.

"However, I wish to challenge KUJ for failing to carry out serious investigations on who might have invited the youths against the journalists," read the statement.

The flamboyant politician further revealed that at the time of the incident he was not even within Nairobi county.

"By the time this was happening I was with the President in Kitui, Embu, Runyenjes, Siakago and Kirinyaga for voters registration exercise," said Sonko.

The Senator also urged the Kenya Police Service to speed up an investigation into the incident and bring the culprits to book.
