Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has claimed he turned down a request by NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga to join the opposition.

According to Sonko, the offer was fronted alongside businessman Jimmi Wanjigi, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyokaand Musalia Mudavadi.

According to the Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant, NASA wanted to front him as the Machakos gubernatorial aspirant during the August 8 polls.

 Sonko further says he also dismissed an alternative offer to be NASA’s Senate candidate in Nairobi saying he would only have joined the opposition if Kalonzo was the flag bearer.

Sonko made the remarks after Raila said that if elected President he would resign, if Senator Mike Sonko is elected Governor.

Sonko was speaking in Embakasi South after attending a church service.

 He  is set to face incumbent Evans Kidero, Miguna Miguna and Peter Kenneth.
