Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has rewarded Kamba elders with a 14 seater van for endorsing his candidature during the last general elections.

Sonko, who defeated outgoing Nairobi governor, could not hide his joy after he was accorded support to rise to power. 

The flamboyant governor met the elders at his at his expansive Muua Hills home, Machakos where he thanked them for the massive support.

The county boss took to social media and posted: "Today, at my home in Mua Hills, I was honored to hand over to them a 14-seater van to ease their movement. We thank God for the far he has brought us, and the grand plans He has for us for the future,” as quoted by Tuko.co.ke. 

Sonko’s win in the governorship race has made him one of the most powerful politicians from this community. 

The former senator defied calls to step down for former Gatanga Member of Parliament Peter Kenneth to ascend to power. The vocal politician has embarked on cleaning the city of Nairobi days after he was sworn into power.

The governor joins the likes of Wiper Party Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, Former Lands Minister Charity Ngilu and Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua in the list of most powerful Kamba leaders.
