Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko may face impeachment should he fail to iron out outstanding differences with embattled deputy, says Gideon Mamboleo.
On Friday, Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe tendered a resignation letter citing lack of trust from the governor.
And with Jubilee's divisions during nominations last April, Sonko could find himself in trouble should he fail to reach an agreement with Igathe.
"There are Jubilee MCAs who may not be in good terms with Sonko and should they gang up with the minority side NASA, things may not be good for Sonko.
"He should move with speed to seal such loopholes because an impeachment motion can sail through in such circumstances," he argues.
Sonko, who previously served as Nairobi senator and Makadara MP, confirmed receipt of Igathe's resignation and is yet to comment further.
While it is not clear why Igathe would take such a bold move, sources say Sonko is not willing to allow him manage the county as earlier promised.
