Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has come out to speak to the Kikuyu community again after the recent claims that he was targetting Mt Kenya in his politics.
Sonko said he was indebted to the Kikuyu community and that he would never go against them.
He said his closest people in politics have always been from the Mt Kenya community and that there was no way he would turn against them.
"I have experience with the Kikuyu community. Since 2010 when I vied as MCA in Makadara, the biggest population of Maringo people were Kikuyus and they voted me instead of their son Dick Wathika. If Kikuyus were tribalistic, I would not be MP," he said.
"I also vied as governor. In the party nominations I contested against their son Peter Kenneth but they still voted me.... If they were tribalistic, I would not be governor today," he added.
