Sonko said the matter was a serious one and that he was out to deal with such 'cartels' doing unscrupulous business at the expense of lives of Nairobians.

Taking to Facebook, he argued that such cases were what led to the outbreak of diseases like Cholera in the county.

"My attention has been drawn to a very serious plot by cartels who are out to supply Nairobians with dirty and contaminated water so as to spread CHOLERA in Nairobi.

The lorry (See photos attached) had been spotted in Dagoreti and to the members of the public, be warned that you MUST not buy water from unknown sources.

I admit it is the responsibility of my government to ensure all Nairobians have a 24hr flow of water in their taps and the issue of cartels interfering with smooth supply of water to our estates is being pursued and soon we shall expose and take stern action against any of our water engineers who are involved in this incident.

A couple of days ago this same lorry was spotted supplying contaminated water to residents of Garden flats estate Makindu road off Ngong road and Loresho estate.

My officers have already launched a thorough investigation into the matter and soon the culprits shall be brought to book.I further appeal to members of the public to report such suspicious water suppliers for quick action."
