Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's new approach of giving locals opportunity to call and interact with him may have been a concept by his Nyamira counterpart John Nyagarama.
While Nairobians would now talk one on one with their boss, a senior communication official from Nyamira County claims that the concept was heavily borrowed from Nyagarama.
"Sonko's new concept was heavily borrowed from Governor Nyagarama. He came up with a unique number that locals can reach him with," said Nyambega Gisesa.
The former journalist added: "Only that most of our people do not take this serious and that Nairobi is more urban than Nyamira. Otherwise it was our brain child."
But multiple sources from Nyamira indicates that Nyagarama rarely picks calls especially those from perceived strangers, claims which contradict the official's account.
Partly confirming the contrary, last year, Nyagarama failed to pick a phone call from Radio Maisha when popular presenter Jalang'o sought to enquire an issue from him.
