Mombasa Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti has summoned Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko to explain the whereabouts of Mombasa Republican Council (MRC) president Omar Mwamnuadzi.

Mwamnuadzi and 25 others were charged with being members of an outlawed group in 2012.

Sonko was his surety when he was granted Sh10 million bond.

The office of the Director of Public Prosecutions proved that Mwamnuadzi faked his illness to skip the hearings.

The MRC leader presented documents showing he had been admitted at the Coast Provincial General Hospital suffering multiple diseases.

State counsel Jami Yamina told the court the documents were fake and the purported admission number belonged to Simon Miano.
