Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko could lose his seat after a resident has filed a petition challenging his election on August 8.
Japheth Muroko wants Sonko’s win to be nullified on grounds that the election was not conducted in a credible manner.
The petitioner claims that there were massive irregularities.
In the petition, he alleged that the agents of former Governor Evans Kidero were denied access to most polling stations.
He added that some agents were only allowed access to specific polling stations after voting had taken place.
Currently, about 120 petitions have been filed in court challenging victories of leaders at different levels.
Notable petitions include Steve Mbogo vs Charles Kanyi(Starehe), Wavinya Ndeti vs Alfred Mutua (Machakos) , Hassan Omar vs Hassan Joho (Mombasa) Josephat Nanok vs (John Munyes) .
The most petition will be based from the Supreme court ruling that nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta's win.
