Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has urged Coast residents to ignore the opposition’s propaganda and instead back President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election bid in the up coming general election.

Speaking during a public rally at Matuga grounds and Ukunda Showground in Kwale County, Sonko said that Jubilee is a government that accommodates all Kenyans including those in the opposition.

He said Cord has nothing to offer the residents, adding that the government has initiated various projects in the Coast region, contrary to what the opposition has been stating.

“Jubilee has done a lot for the people of the Coast and I wish to ask them to support the government because it has the interest of all Kenyans,” said Sonko, as quoted by The Star.

On his part, Deputy President William Ruto asked Kwale residents to support him and President Kenyatta in the August elections.

He rubbished opposition's claims that Jubilee had not initiated any projects in the Coast region, citing different projects in the field of health, energy, education, water, infrastructure and lands among other sectors.

Ruto further challenged opposition leaders Raila Odinga (ODM), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya) to identify the projects they had initiated in the region, and accused them of nothing for Coast residents, despite being in power for over 30 years.
