The county government has unveiled plans to establish a recycling plant in Dandora to solve the garbage collection mess.  

According to Governor Mike Sonko, Nairobi government is committed to ensuring efficient garbage collection in different parts of the county in the next five years of his leadership. 

He also revealed that his government will work with private and public firms to clean the city. 

The first-time county boss also said that garbage mess will be a thing of the past once the plant is complete. 

He made the revelations through social media outlets, Nation reports.

“My government is working on the installation of a giant recycling plant at Dandora dumpsite. Once complete the recycling plant shall address the garbage dumping challenge we are currently facing in Nairobi,” Sonko, as quoted by the local daily.

 He further said that his government has intentions of amending waste management laws to ensure efficient operation.

 Before his election, Sonko expressed confidence that he will make Nairobi great again. He promised to tackle different issues affecting residents including garbage mess, security and unemployment among different groups.
