Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko wants Nairobi governor Evans Kidero to explain the source of the money that he is planning to use for Raila Odinga’s 2017 presidential campaigns.
Kidero was on Thursday in Nairobi quoted by The Standard saying that he is ready to finance Raila Odinga's presidential campaigns to ensure he wins.
"I will do anything to ensure that Raila clinches the presidency even if it means using my money," said Kidero.
The senator, who is also eyeing the governor's seat in 2017, said that Kidero’s remarks confirm his earlier assertions that the governor was misusing the county resources.
"I have always maintained that there is a lot of theft of public money within the county government. Now the governor has confirmed he has money to finance a presidential campaign. Where did he got it from...is it our money?" he posed on Saturday in Nairobi.
In June, the two violently disrupted a senate committee sitting when they engaged in a physical fight with Sonko accusing Kidero of misappropriation of county resources.
"This county government has been taking away properties belonging to the people of Nairobi. They give fake demands of rates and then grab the property. They then kill the people. I have evidence to prove all these. I am ready to file an affidavit," he said.
