Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has said his government is set to recruit new staff in the fire fighting department.

Speaking through his Facebook page, the governor said he will employ some 300 youths to take up positions left by old worker who will be retiring soon.

"In the meantime, 300 young, energetic and vibrant firefighters will be competitively recruited to replace some of our staff who are due for retirement by the end of this year," he said.

The governor added that his government was waporking on improving service delivery in the city and would advertise traffic marshal jobs and those of cleaners in a bid to have a better Nairobi.

"It is important to mention that, in line with my commitment to improve service delivery and our capacity to respond to emergencies, we shall advertise recruitment of 1,000 Traffic Marshalls to manage traffic flow within CBD and in addition 200 cleaners shall also be recruited," he said.
