[Photo|Mike Sonko]Outgoing Nairobi County Senator and Governor elect Mike Sonko has turned down a proposal by the County Assumption of Office Committee to set aside a whooping Sh25 million, for his inauguration ceremony.The Committee had proposed for the allocation of Sh6.3 million for security; Sh2.4 million to fuel VIP cars; Sh2 million for documentationSh2.7 million for works, and Sh11.1 million for public health.Instead, the Jubilee Party leader directed the County Finance Officer Luke Gatimu, that the millions of shillings be used to pay the one month arrears owed to the county staff, in the next 48 hours.“I have met with the different stakeholders and we have agreed that the workers will be paid before I officially take over as the Nairobi County governor,” Sonko told the press, Monday.Sonko beat outgoing governor Dr Evans Kidero, to take over as the chief of a powerful county, by garnering 848,712 votes (53.6%) against 677,083 votes (42.76%), in the August 8 polls.
