Nairobi senator, Mike Sonko and Kiambu governor, William Kabogo have formed their own party ahead of the 2017 General Elections.
The two were together on Sunday during a rally in Ruiru where they spoke of the issue.
Sonko stated that he would be eyeing the Nairobi gubernatorial seat while Kabogo said that he would plan on how to keep his seat.
The formation of the two leaders’ party comes barely after some MPs of the Jubilee government came together to endorse Water CS, Eugene Wamalwa for the Nairobi governor seat.
The endorsement was led by Kabete MP, Ferdinand Waititu who got backlash from Sonko who termed him a political reject and opportunist.
“If Baba Yao is man enough, let him seek election in Nairobi and we shall show him dust. He should not mislead the people of Kiambu,” the senator said.
Sonko said he is more than ready to battle any other candidate for the gubernatorial seat.
“I am not leaving Jubilee and neither am I afraid of anyone, be it the minister or whoever. All we want is the party to conduct transparent nominations,” he said.
