Police are investigating a case in which Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has been accused of shooting at people at a residential home in Kilifi over the weekend.

It is alleged that Sonko together with his guards arrived at the scene in the wee hours of Saturday and used gun violence to scare away people.

according to Mr Joseph Lenguris who reported the case, the governor arrived with a fleet of cars and stormed into the violence.

“He arrived in his fleet of cars and started chasing us away by firing more than 20 shots. We escaped unhurt. I know he is threatening me so that he can grab this land. He has been threatening me and if I die he should be held responsible,” he said.

The two are in a land dispute over ownership of a 3.2-acre tract.

According to the man, Sonko's kin applied to buy the land in the past but did not complete the payment process.

“Instead, she moved to court and got an adverse possession through fraudulent means. We went to court and got a decree that we are the owners of the land and got it published in the Kenya Gazette,” he claimed.
