Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's surprise move to nominate controversial Canadian based lawyer Miguna Miguna as his deputy governor is the beginning of his political downfall, political analyst Peter Ngure has said.
Ngure argued that Sonko and Miguna's relationship if the controversial lawyer will be approved as deputy governor will not last.
He observed that Sonko and Miguna hold different political perspective's and view's especially on matters leadership.
In an interview on Thursday, Ngure warned Sonko, saying that Miguna will not give him peace if he is approved as deputy governor.
"Sonko should brace himself because Miguna is not a person you can easily and completely trust," he said.
The analyst further said that Sonko's surprise decision could be a strategy for 2022.
He said that the Nairobi Governor, a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto might have nominated Miguna to prepare for Ruto's 2022 bid.
"It is all about 2022 political calculations and DP Ruto could be plotting to get Miguna's backing," he said.
The Kiambu based analyst noted that Miguna has influence and a support base that could be of help to DP Ruto in 2022.
Sonko's move to nominate Miguna as his deputy continue's to elicit mixed reactions among Kenyans.
In a letter to the Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi, Sonko said that Miguna meets all the requirements to be his deputy.
On Wednesday, Miguna canceled his planned return to the country saying that he is waiting for certain court orders.
The lawyer has promised to announce a new date when he will be making a return to the country after being deported twice.
He was first deported in February for officiating ODM Party leader Raila Odinga's mock swearing-in as the people's president on January 30.
