Nairobi senator Mike Sonko has cautioned Starehe MP Maina Kamanda against intimidating Jubilee Party aspirants opposed to former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth’s gubernatorial bid in the county.
Speaking during a voter registration mobilisation rally held at Kibagare grounds in Kangemi, the senator faulted Kamanda for threatening various aspirants, adding that the MP is out to ensure that any hopeful who does not support PK (Kenneth) fails during the party’s primaries.
“Kamanda is threatening gubernatorial, parliamentary and MCA aspirants. He is saying that if you do not join the camp supporting Kenneth's bid, you will not get the Jubilee ticket,” he said, as quoted by the Star.
Sonko also said that he and other leaders from Nairobi respect Kamanda but he (Kamanda) should desist from making disparaging remarks against other leaders as they eye different elective posts in the up-coming polls.
Kamanda, however, did not pick calls to comment over the matter.
The senator has been launching attack after attack against PK after he declared his interest in the seat.
According to Sonko, PK is a foreigner who knows nothing about Nairobi and should therefore keep off the region's politics.
He has maintained that he is the man to correct the mistakes made by incumbent governor Evans Kidero if given the JP ticket.
