Nairobi County Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has warned members of the business community, PSV operators and the general public against corrupt staff and brokers who fraudulently waive license fees from business owners. Through a tweet on Monday, Sonko asked the Nairobi business and Matatu owners to be careful when making transactions at the City Hall"I wish to warn members of the business community, PSV operators & the public in general that some corrupt staff & brokers station themselves outside City Hall & conspire with fraudsters purporting that they're in a position to waive license fees," Sonko tweetedSonko said that the fraudsters ask for cash payments which they pocket and use fake cheques to pay City Hall.
He noted that some suspects had been arraigned in court for same charges."Such illegal payments are made in cash which they pocket & use fake cheques to pay City Hall. Recently, 2NK sacco staff & City Hall staff were arrested after they defrauded NCC of over Sh.2.2m. Two weeks ago over 10 suspects were again arraigned in court on the same charges," Sonko added.
