If poll tallying were to stop now, outgoing Nairobi senator Mike Sonko would be the new governor of the city county.
According to provisional results released by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Sonko was leading Kidero by 12am August 9.
The incumbent had managed only 576578 votes against Sonko's 719,624, votes.
The result could only heap more misery on the NASA fraternity after their flag-bearer Raila Odinga started trailing President Uhuru Kenyatta by more than a million votes.
By Wednesday 12am, Raila was trailing at 44 per cent of the votes counted against Uhuru's 55 per cent.
