Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko’s bodyguards have reportedly shot and injured two people in Pipeline, Nairobi on Sunday.
Police officers are investigating the incident.
The investigators say the bodyguards could also be those attached to Embakasi East Jubilee MP candidate Francis Mureithi.
The Standard reports that “Gunmen shot randomly after fracas broke out over goodies that Sonko who is seeking to be a governor and Mureithi were distributing at Vumilia village off Outer Ring Road.”
The victims, who were rushed to the Mama Lucy Hospital, accused the bodyguards of the two Jubilee leaders of being behind the incident.
They had bullets lodged in their bodies.
“We have sent a team to the ground to talk to witnesses. It does not matter who was involved and we are determined to ensure justice,” said Nicholas Kamwende, Nairobi’s head of criminal investigations.
