Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has congratulated President Uhuru Kenyatta upon his swearing in for the second term.
Sonko said he was optimistic that the president would work with his county government for the betterment of lives of Nairobi residents.
"H.E Uhuru Kenyatta, please accept my warm congratulations to you as you begin your final term as the president of this great nation," he said.
"I trust that you will continue to work tirelessly to uplift the living standard of the people of Kenya. Nairobi City County is looking forward to working with you to improve service delivery. May the Almighty God give you wisdom and guidance as you discharge the responsibilities of your office," he added.
There has been speculation that the Nairobi governor is planning to vie for the presidency in the 2022 elections or in 2027 when, if he is reelected, his tenure as governor comes to an end.
