Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has further pledged his commitment towards a clean city.
In his twitter account Thursday, while launching 40 garbage trucks with each ward set to receive its own,the governor has expressed confidence that the new move will be a helping hand in the fight against litter.
''Today we are flagging off county garbage trucks which are set to be dispatched to every ward in Nairobi,'' he said.
This however comes at a time when the governor's efforts seem to be bearing very little or no benefit at all.
A survey done by Citizen TV on Wednesday shows that despite having promised to clean the county within his first 100 days in office, the menace remains intact.
Sonko has however blamed reckless citizens for the menace, with hotel owners being held responsible for the piles of litter in the CBD.
''Just realized that illegal dumping around the CBD is done by business owners especially in the hotel industry. They pay street kids to pick up garbage from the back doors and dump them along the lanes in the city,'' he said in an earlier tweet.
The governor has also dispatched a contingent of county inspectorate officers in a bid to tame the situation, warning of dire consequences to anyone found culpable.
