Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has agreed to help with transporting the bodies of the nine Moi Girls School fire incidents to their respective counties.

According to a press statement issued by National Disaster Management Unit (NMDU) deputy director and communication officer Pius Masai, Governor Sonko had promised to help with the transportation of the bodies based on the family’s plans.

Masai added that Sonko assured the families that he would personally support and attend the burials as well.

“Families have been advised to communicate to the school and participate in the prayer day for the loss of their beloved ones,” said Masai.

He called on all learning institutions to ensure their safety and security regulations are put in place to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

“NDMU appeals to all learning institutions to implement safety, security and emergency preparedness plans as a prevention and mitigation measures. We thank the families and all emergency service providers for their cooperation,” he added.
