Sofapaka suffered a surprise defeat in the hands of Sony Sugar, in a league match played at the Awendo Stadium.

Congolese striker Mwana Yema returned to the score sheets after close to two months with the all-important goal in the first half. Credit for the assist goes to long-serving Sony forward Victor Ademba.

With this result, Sony Sugar made a late entry into the fight for the top 10 league spot as Sofapaka dropped to fourth place on the log with two games left to play.

In another match, Bandari who had beaten Muhoroni Youth 6-2 in their previous assignment began quite strongly, but could only manage a few long-range efforts from Darius Msagha as goals proved a mirage.

Rangers showed enterprise in the 25th minutes when Baron Oketch sent a long cross towards Michael Apudo, but his header went straight at Rangers goalkeeper Patrick Matasi.
