[Photo| Daily Nation]The Kenya National Union (KNUT) of Teachers secretary general Wilson Sossion has been asked to resign by the union chairman Mudzo Nzili.Nzili's call came after Sossion granted him and his deputy Samson Kaguma six months mandatory terminal leave prior to their retirement next year. The KNUT chairman however defied Sossion's order saying the ODM nominated MP had no legal mandate to issue such directive since he now a legislator."Having served in the union for a considerable period of time, you are well aware that as a matter of common practice and custom, the union does not mix national party politics with teachers’ professional issues. KNUT is a professional union," Nzili said in a letter addressed Sossion, Sunday. Nzili wants the KNUT boss to leave office and his deputy Hesbon Otieno to take over. Sossion and Nzili have had a sour relationship since Sossion took over as secretary general back in 2013.
