Knut chairman Wilson Sossion has blamed Education CS Fred Matiang'i over the rising wave of arson cases in public schools.
Sossion said during an interview on NTV that the arson cases have been brought about by the new changes on the education calendar.
''You cannot just make decisions on your own without consulting teachers and students. The new laws now show that Kenya has no holiday during second term but rather a 'mere break'. You cannot give students a two-week break and count it is a holiday,'' said Sossion on Monday.
He called on the Ministry of Education to change the new rules saying extension of second term has affected students psychologically.
''Even an extension of five minutes matters a lot to students. Ask psychologists, they will tell you how this is dangerous,'' he said.
