The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Sossion Thursday took the National Super Alliance (NASA) campaigns to Bomet County, a perceived Jubilee Party zone.
Speaking when he met about 300 teachers, Sossion accused Jubilee administration of being insensitive to the plight of workers and called for its removal from power.
He claimed the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led government had deliberately staggered the implementation of the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) for teachers to four years, a move he said has rendered many tutors jobless.
“Many qualified teachers have languished without employment and it is time to address the unemployment and shortage of teachers through the ballot," he was quoted by Citizen Digital, speaking at Mogogosiek trading centre in Konoin sub-county.
Sossion who is also the Trade Union Congress (TUC) Secretary General, urged teachers to rally behind opposition presidential candidate Raila Odinga saying NASA government will end the teachers' shortage in the country by hiring 20,000 teachers annually.
"NASA will implement CBA in two years if elected. No qualified teacher will suffer due to unemployment...lets vote for Raila who is committed to change the fortunes of the Kenyan worker," the KNUT boss said.
Raila's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party recently nominated Sossion to the 12th Parliament.
