Sossion, who is also the KNUT Secretary General, stated that teachers would not tolerate any changes to the dates scheduled for national examinations.

“ Regardless of changes in elections, exam calendar should not be altered. Students are more prepared than before ,” Sossion remarked at a press conference where he was accompanied by Education CS Fred Matiang'i.

The position taken by the ODM MP is in contrast to Raila’s call for the dates for national examinations to be changed to allow the country to have a credible repeat presidential election.

“ If elections are postponed for two weeks, the children will not die,” the ODM leader remarked.

The KNUT Secretary General insisted that the two processes are independent and could be done simultaneously.

Stakeholders have expressed anxiety over the possibility of the elections interfering with exams given that some of the schools serve as polling stations and tallying centers.
