Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Sossion has dismissed Kenya Certificate for Secondary Education 2016 results as ‘genocide’ against students.
Sossion claims that the examiners were not given humble time to ‘interact’ with the papers or even marking schemes.
In his address to the media on Saturday Sossion accused the Ministry of education for failing to respond to concerns raised by various stakeholders.
“We have been having a tradition of marking exams which was not adhered to. Examiners were not given time to look at the papers prior to marking or even marking schemes,” he said.
“This is genocide to our students and we cannot agree with it at all. We want the Ministry to allow immediate remarking of the exam to give students their rightful grades,” added session who also accused the ministry of guilt by allegedly failing to respond to union’s concerns.
Sossion’s demands have since been boosted after opposition leader Raila Odinga also joined the debate by calling for auditing of the results.
