Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Sossion has backed Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto”s re-election in the upcoming elections.
Speaking in Bomet County during the signing of a MoU with the county, Sossion said Rutto has always been there for the union in their time of need and there should be given a second chance.
"He is among the few governors who have stood by us as a union in our time of need," said Sossion.
The Knut Secretary General elaborated that all the union members are at liberty to support a politician of their choice without being criticized of being partisan.
"When we decide to support a particular individual it doesn't mean we are affiliated to his party," he noted.
Sossion further pointed out that the union is not a political party.
"Knut is not a political party. We are not slaves to any party but a free labour movement,” he added, Friday.
The Memorandum of Understanding signed will see ECDE tutors in Bomet County join Knut.
The county Government has employed 1,000 ECDE teachers so far.
