Nominated MP Wilson Sossion has said he will not resign as the secretary-general of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut).
While responding to Labour Cabinet Secretary Phyllis Kandie who on Wednesday asked him and 10 other trade union official who won elective seats to vacate office, Sossion warned the Labour ministry and the government against interfering with trade union matters.
He accused CS Kandie of playing politics in a bid to split and weaken the giant teachers union.
"I am not going anywhere. This is a trade union, not a government entity. I am the Knut secretary-general. Let the delegates decide," the MP told the Nation.
Sossion has been a strong defender of teachers, leading them in various strikes on pay rise
