The war between KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion and Mudzo Nzili raged on again on Sunday, with Sossion insisting Nzili must go home.
Sossion adds that the decision to send Nzili home ahead of his retirement in May next year is in line with the union’s constitution.
At the KNUT headquarters on Sunday, Sossion introduced Wycliff Otole, who is the vice chair of the union as the proposed candidate for the post of the chair.
He (Sossion) refuted claims that the retirement granted to Nzili ahead of his date was unconstitutional.
“For the last two days, there has been a lot of debate that certain leaders have been kicked out, we do not kick out anybody, we have organized leadership in the union and all that is done is included in the constitution. We would like to allay fears that there is a split in the union,”
Sossion and Nzili have had power wrangles since 2013, after the demise of the then Secretary General of the union Daviid Okuta.
Session was the then chairman of the union, and Nzili had just been appointed the acting secretary general.
“When we were consulting with my brother, Hon Sossion, that having been nominated to parliament, the only honorable thing for you is to relinquish your position so that you concentrate with the political side, and when we, the union have issues, we can come to you,” says Nzili.
