KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion has come under sharp criticism by teachers, after his apparent support of NASA alliance in the run up to the general elections.
Session attended NASA’s meeting in Bomet last weekend, where he promised to deliver the teachers’ votes to the alliance.
However, Knut Kiambu branch Samwel Muiruri, Kiambu East executive secretary Clement Gicharu said it was okay and within his rights as an individual to back any political outfit, but was misleading to say all teachers were behind his decision.
Sossion has been promised a senatorial nomination by ODM.
The officials said Sossion should have put a disclaimer that the sentiments were his personal thoughts and did not in any way amount to a group decision.
Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has joined the debate as well, accusing Sossion of illegally giving NASA Sh300 million belonging to teachers.
Session has however denied the claims, saying he was not in charge of the union’s accounts.
He has also maintained that it is his constitutional right to support whomever the likes, and has no apology to make.
