Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), Eldoret West Branch secretary general Kipchumba Arusei, has told the embattled KNUT secretary general Wilson Sossion to leave office with immediate effect.
Arusei said Sossion should respect the union's constitution and stop being a cry baby wanting everyone to save him from his misfortunes.
“It is clear that the National Executive Committee (NEC) members met and resolved to suspend Sossion as the secretary general. He should accept, move on and wait for the annual delegates meeting which will decide his fate,” Arusei said.
Arusei addressed the press in Eldoret town on Saturday.
He said NEC has the power to suspend or sack the secretary general and Sosion should abide by that.
“This man is power greedy, ineffective and selfish. How can you handle over 10 jobs and expect to serve teachers well? Our professional ethics clearly states that teachers should not be involved in other jobs,” Arusei added.
The Eldoret West KNUT boss reiterated that teachers issues cannot be addressed with leaders of Sossion's, reason why the NEC members voted him out for failing to implement the union's decisions.
Arusei said KNUT leaders from across the country will hold demonstrations to eject Sossion from office if he refuses to vacate the position of secretary general.
This comes after the NEC members recently met and suspended KNUT secretary general Wilson Sossion terming him as greedy and cannot represent teachers.
