Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) secretary general Wilson Sossion has accused the Jubilee government of a scheme to kick him out of the union.

Sossion claimed elements within the government went to an extent of having a secret meeting with a section of KNUT officials from central and influenced them to scuttle a retreat the union was to hold at the coast.

Sossion spoke after Labour Cabinet Secretary Phyllis Kandie directed that Sossion, among other union officials serving other political positions, to quit their union leader's positions.

This is after Kandie gazetted them as state officers.

The outspoken unionist said Jubilee is hellbent to have weak leaders at the helm of KNUT who can be compromised.

He said his firm stand during negotiations with the government has always left him a marked man and the government was waiting for the slightest opportunity to push him out of KNUT.

He also said that the government does not want unionists in parliament as they will wield immense power in pushing for the welfare of their members.

Sossion was nominated to parliament by the Orange Democratic Movement.
