Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) secretary general Wilson Sossion said the move is a good gesture towards ensuring the cohorts who sat for the exams get sufficient time to report in their respective schools, immediately, after the form one selection exercise is completed.

Sossion noted the sudden release of the exams will as well put examination cartels away, giving the exams the credibility it deserves.

He said it will also give parents and candidates an ample time to prepare for the next step.

"I am very sure that the cohorts who have sat for this exam, will be more prepared and they are likely to perform better at subsequent levels because they will report to the new term together with the new students and will begin their curriculum of the next level, on time,'' Sossion said, Thursday.

On his part, Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers secretary general Akello Misori commended the move.

He however called on the CS to be engaging stakeholders before coming up with critical issues in the Ministry, to avoid differences and misunderstandings.

At least 950 thousand candidates who sat for their 2016 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations received their results.

The release of the exams breaks the tradition where candidates used to get their results late December after Christmas celebrations.
