Speaking in Kisumu on Thursday during the close of a training session for KNUT officials from across Kenya, Sossion said that the Union’s leadership is united.

“We are united.  The contentious issues that might have triggered tension in the union’s leadership have been resolved,” he said.

“The union’s officials in various positions will continue discharging their respective duties accordingly,” he added.

The Secretary General who also doubles up as ODM nominated Member of Parliament (MP) said he is now ready to withdraw a case he had filed earlier challenging the attempt to remove him from office.

Sossion said they are now focusing on a series of planned meetings with the teachers’ employer Teachers Service Commission (TSC), where various emerging issues will be addressed.

Other officials present in the KNUT meeting in Kisumu were National Chairman Wycliffe Omuchei and Sossion’s Deputy Hesbon Omollo who is being fronted to replace him.

The two did not give a comment.

Recently, KNUT officials tried to oust Sossion on grounds that he cannot serve as an MP and KNUT Secretary General at the same time.
