The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) leaders drawn from the North Rift have resolved to back the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
In a statement, Union officials from Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Elgeyo Marakwet counties said that President Kenyatta deserves a chance to finish projects he initiated during his first term in office.
According to Eldoret East Executive Secretary, John Bor, he had launched a door to door campaign to ensure victory for the Jubilee team.
"We are going to campaign vigorously for President Uhuru Kenyatta to ensure he clinches decisive victory in the October 17 repeat presidential poll based on his development record since he took over the reins of power four years ago," Borsaid.
The teachers distanced themselves from the declaration made by their National Secretary General, Wilson Sossion, that the teachers will rally behind National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate, Raila Odinga.
"We as KNUT leaders from North Rift have resolved unanimously without any influence or pressure from any quartets to drum up support for the President in the re-run election," stated the Nandi KNUT Executive Secretary, Joseph Serem.
